R’Mony Restaurant & Lounge: Haitian Creole At It’s Best
An excellent and exciting new restaurant has opened in Atlanta, GA. Owned by an experienced restaurateur, R’Mony serves traditional Haitian bistro-style food, focusing to some extent (though not exclusively) on comfort cuisine. I ate there with a group of friends after a long day of setting up for an event. The food was especially excellent, authentic flavors, yet innovative, and beautifully presented. Every dish was prepared and served to perfection.
Haitians are big on family and at R’Mony you feel the warmth when you walk through the door. We were greeted and taken to our specially prepared table immediately. Owner Amonya Boursiquot Cyrille, came to our table to greet us and as she took our drink order she answered everything we wanted to know about authentic Haitian Creole Food. She is and expert because the chef is her mother. You can tell mom has years of prior experience cooking these wonderful dishes while adding that special touch of love that only mothers can do.
The space is very chic and sophisticated. Modern décor in white is strategically placed so that people can relax and a have a great view while dining. Each table has enough room to seat at least a party of six suggesting that this is a place to come and hang out with friends. The warm tones on the walls envelope you giving an authentic Caribbean experience.
The food was tasty, the choices are outstanding and varied. Equally important, where the dish proposes to be authentic, the flavors are quite true to the homeland cuisine. For appetizers we dined on Akra which is part of the Malanga root. The akra is lightly breaded and fried to a golden crisp. We also nibbled on sweet plantain which we could not get enough of. For our entrees I can use one word Flavor. I had the Salmon in Creole Sauce with the tossed house salad. My friends dined on the stewed chicken, black rice, black bean soup and the Caribbean wings. Were instantly transported back to Haiti when our drinks were brought to the table the light aperitif of passion fruit was a definitely a delicious surprise to our palate I especially recommend the akra, the salmon in creole sauce and the black rice.
R’Mony also offers an action packed nightlife. Get ready to dance every Friday to African, Caribbean, and old school hip hop music! Hookah specials, drink specials and great food! Party starts at 9. Free parking all night and free entry before 10p. R’Mony Restaurant & Lounge is located at 1644 Atlanta Rd SE Marietta, GA.
